Kawasaki rider takes home victory around Magny-Cours

French fans were treated to a home winner at the Pirelli French Round this weekend, as Jeremy Guarnoni (Pedercini Racing Kawasaki) took the race victory around Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in the European Superstock 1000 Championship.

Starting from the second row of the grid, he fought through from the top six in the opening laps before getting caught in a battle with Mike Jones (Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team) for the final spot on the podium. In the closing three laps the French rider was soon up and fighting with early race leader Florian Marino (Pata Yamaha Official STK1000 Team). A final lap battle ensued but Guarnoni was able to reach the chequered flag first, and took the race win by 0.414s.

Making it his fourth victory in the STK1000 class around Magny-Cours, the Kawasaki rider was delighted to take his first podium of the season: “This is my home track but it is not my favourite. Maybe it is because this is my home round but I think I rode really well and the bike was perfect all weekend. We were fast. It has been a difficult season so far for me so to win this race was really important and I am really happy. Thanks to Kawasaki and the team because the bike was perfect.”

As the championship battle is set to be decided in the final round of the season at Jerez in two weeks time, follow all the action with the WorldSBK VideoPass.
